Sudley House is one of the few period homes decorated in a Victorian style that still has many of its original features. The house was built in the early 1800s and by the 1880s was inhabited by Liverpool merchant, George Holt. Holt collected art and paid a great deal of attention to presentation and often collected works with religious or honest tones.
Sudley House has the only surviving Victorian merchant art collection in Britain still hanging in its original location.
