Redwings Aylsham Visitor Centre
Lovable donkey duo Wiggins and Wacko, real-life Black Beauty Maya and resident troublemakers, the Gangsters, are just some of the 50 rescued residents ready to make your acquaintance at Redwings Aylsham in Norfolk.
Since forming in 1984, Redwings now cares for over 1,500 rescued horses, donkey, ponies and mules at its centres across the country – which includes Redwings Aylsham in Norfolk, a Visit England Quality Assured Visitor Attraction. Everything Redwings does is 100% funded by the public.
After making plenty of new four-legged friends, you can also enjoy a relaxing stroll around the centre’s peaceful wildlife walks – perfect for keen ramblers and dog walkers! Hot drinks and warm lunches are available from Gulliver’s Café, our play area for young children remains partially closed but our gift shop a wide range of souvenirs to browse is open, with all proceeds supporting the hundreds of rescued donkeys, mules, ponies and horses in Redwings’ care.
Having met the centre’s lovable residents, you might like to sponsor one of the charity’s adorable Adoption Stars. Available from just £15 per year, you can adopt for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a friend or loved one.
In July, August, and September the site will be open seven days a week!
Redwings Aylsham is open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday all year round, 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). We are continuing to ask supporters to pre-book tickets to ensure the number of people at the centre remains at a controlled level. To book your tickets please visit our website https://www.redwings.org.uk/get-involved/visit/aylsham-visitor-centre. Entry and parking are free but donations of all sizes can really support the charity’s work if you would like to make one. Dogs on leads are welcome.
Most paddocks are accessible, although some pathways may be difficult to navigate in adverse weather conditions or due to the one-way system currently in place. The wildlife walks are also primarily grass track. There is a fully accessible purpose-built visitor reception and stable facility, where ponies can be brought in and groomed. There are two Blue Badge parking spaces.
