Museum of Cannock Chase

Valley Road, Hednesford, Staffordshire WS12 1TD
25 Valley Road Hednesford England WS12 1TD GB

Situated where the Valley Colliery once stood we now have over 30 acres of green space on the edge of Cannock Chase. Today the hills form one of the last remaining areas of heathland in Britain.

The Museum occupies the former colliery corn store, where the pit ponies’ feed was kept. Temporary exhibitions and special events throughout the year complement the museum’s permanent galleries.

School groups are guaranteed exciting ‘hands-on’ activities when they take part in our award-winning curriculum-friendly education programme.

‘History Hunters’ can make an appointment to find out more about local history in the museum library or reserve collections.

Our tranquil and spacious facilities make us the ideal choice for conferences, training or community meetings. A catering service is available for booked parties and business users.

Our coffee shop serves a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and cakes. Our gift shop stocks a variety of giftware, jewellery, traditional toys and games, as well as local history publications.
