See how the Victorians dressed and meet some of them in their shops, cottages and workplaces. Get a real sense of the Victorian era as you walk down Canal Street where you’ll see an old-fashioned sweet shop, a drapers, a photographers, a post office and much more. And if you really want to get the feel of what it was like buying goods in this era, you can pay in Victorian currency, but you’ll have to go to the bank first and exchange your money.

You can also immerse yourself in some Victorian activities by going on a horse and cart ride or taking a ride on the chair-o-planes. It’s great fun. And if you work up an appetitie, you could take a stroll to the fish and chip shop and eat some traditional fish and chips made in Victorian style.

You could also watch a film show at the visitor centre and learn all about the Industrial Revolution, or you can go on the Narrow Gauge Mine Railway and venture underground. There is so much to do here, you and the family won’t be bored.
