Benjamin Franklin House
Enjoy this museum and educational facility, which is the world’s only remaining Franklin home, built around 1730. For nearly sixteen years between 1757 and 1775, Dr Benjamin Franklin – scientist, diplomat, philosopher and inventor lived behind its doors.
Through the Historical Experience explore the excitement and uncertainty of Franklin’s London years in the very rooms he lived in. The scene is set for a drama that seamlessly integrates live performance, cutting edge lighting, sound and visual projection.
Architectural tours offer a staff-led exploration and in-depth history of the House in Benjamin Franklin’s time and beyond. The Georgian features of the 1730s building are revealed along with its fascinating history encompassing Franklin’s long residence (1757-1775), the Hewson anatomy school, and the comprehensive conservation project that saved it from dereliction.
